Q: How does the lux meter work?

A: Most smartphones have a built-in light sensor. To be able to use that you need an app. The lux meter app gets the signal from the sensor and displays the reading on the screen. The reading is not calibrated, but relies on the accuracy of the device. This is sufficient for most applications.
To use the luxmeter, direct the sensor, which normally is placed above the screen, towards the light source. If you want to freeze the reading press the button, which then turns white. To start the reading, press the button again. It then turns green.
